The American Liberal Review utilizes Google Analytics to collect information about use of this Site. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit this ALR, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other sites they used prior to coming to this site. The American Liberal Review uses the information it gets from Google Analytics to improve this site. Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to those accessing ALR on the date he or she visits this Site, rather than his or her name or other identifying information. ALR does not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with personally identifiable information. Although Google Analytics plants a permanent cookie on the web browser of those who visit ALR to identify such visitor as a unique user the next time he or she visits this site, the cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google. The American Liberal Review uses Facebook Domain Insights and other Facebook social media plugins on this Site (such as Facebook “Like” and “Share” buttons). As such, those who visit the Site, that triggers the aforementioned Facebook features, are governed by Facebook’s Data Policy. As such, the information collected by Facebook include referral traffic to ALR from Facebook that includes when people link to the Website in their Facebook status messages, click on social plugins such as Like or Share button, and other information governed by Facebook’s Data Policy.

The American Liberal Review has installed a Clicky tracking code on its Website. As such, the following data of visitors to ALR is sent to Clicky’s tracking servers (as stated on its “Privacy” section under its “Terms of Use” page): “Page URL, Page title, Referrer, User agent, IP address, Language, Screen resolution, Tracking cookie,” and “x/y coordinates of mouse events.”

The American Liberal Review may contain links to other sites. Please be aware that ALR and its Owner are not responsible for the privacy and security practices of other sites outside The American Liberal Review, and they encourage you to read their privacy and security policies before sharing your personal information.

The American Liberal Review and its Owner are not responsible for the content, privacy policies, security policies, and implemented security protocols of external Internet websites (including, without limitation, ALR Social Media, ALR, and PayPal ALR, as well as third-party links posted to the Website). You are advised to read the privacy and security policies of such sites before disclosing any personal information.

Because The American Liberal Review is an non-encrypted site, the Site and its Owner does not guarantee the security and/or privacy of any content or information submitted to the Website (this includes, without limitation, e-mail address information that you submit to the Site when *following ALR by e-mail via electronic e-mail newsletters; submitting a name, username, e-mail address, website name, website url, password information, comment(s), and other types of information to the Site’s “Leave a Comment” section; submitting a name, e-mail address, website name, website url, comment(s) and/or other types of information to the Site’s “Contact” form; and/or submitting Material, as a Contributor, as defined, respectively in numbers 2 and 1 of Section III-A as outlined in the Terms and Condition, to ALR or its Owner). (*Note: You may remove yourself from any or all of the electronic e-mail newsletters that you subscribed to, at any time, by following instructions for unsubscribing found at the end of every electronic newsletter e-mailed to you.)

Additionally, because The American Liberal Review is, as state earlier, a self-hosted website, powered by, that connects to the Jetpack service, which relies on servers, content or information that you submit to the Website will be stored on’s server.

Furthermore, bear in mind, that Automattic’s privacy policy states the following: “Automattic collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on blogs. Automattic only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below [see its privacy policy], except that blog commenter IP addresses and e-mail addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrators of the blog where the comment was left.”

Moreover, because ALR utilises Automattic’s Akismet comment spam filter service on the Website’s comment section the following, as stated in Automattic’s privacy policy, applies: “Comments and other content submitted to our Akismet anti-spam service are not saved on our servers unless they were marked as false positives, in which case we store them long enough to use them to improve the service to avoid future false positives.” Also, stated by Automattic’s Happiness Engineer, Jeremy Herve: “subscribers’ e-mail addresses are also stored on servers, since the e-mails are sent from there.”

Finally, The American Liberal Review and its Owner disclaim any and all damages, loss, harm, liability, or injury resulting from any submission of content or information, by you, to the Website due to the non-encrypted nature of the Site, or for any other reason or cause.

Users of the Internet have the ability to implement a “Do-No-Track” preference. According to Microsoft, “‘Do Not Track’ is a preference that users can set in web browsers to inform websites that they do not want to be tracked, which may help protect them against forms of tracking on the web.” (Please note that Microsoft also points out: “Today, there is no single definition of what it means to be “tracked,” so expressing a preference does not guarantee users that they will be able to block all web sites and content that they may view as being associated with tracking behavior.”)

The American Liberal Review, again, is a self-hosted website, powered by, that connects to the Jetpack service that relies on servers.  In light of all of this, currently does not honor the “Do-Not-Track” preference (as stated here). As such, please be advised of the risk that by using the ALR, you may be tracked despite selecting the “Do-No-Track” setting on your browser.

As such, in light of what has been stated above (including a recitation of the risk involved), your use of this Website is an understanding, acknowledgement and acceptance of the risk that you may be tracked online, despite enabling the “Do Not Track” preference on your browser. And, as such, you further understand, acknowledge and agree that ALR and its Owner shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any and all damages, injury, harm, or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with the use of the The American Liberal Review

Also, by using the The American Liberal Review, in circumstance where you do not enable the “Do-Not-Track” preference on your browser, your use of this Website is an understanding, acknowledgement and acceptance that you will be tracked online.

Finally, you further understand, acknowledge and agree that The American Liberal Review and its Owner shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any and all damages, harm, injury, or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with the use of  the The American Liberal Review regardless of whether you choose or not choose to select the “Do-No-Track” preference on your browser.
